Carpenter / Trades Technician III (00052)Longwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Carpenter/ Trades Technician III (00052). The successful candidate will perform highly skilled carpentry work, including but not limited to repairs, installations, remodeling, and maintenance. This position is considered to be emergency personnel, and must report to work or be called in due to inclement weather, in the case of emergency, staff shortage, etc. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Essential Responsibilities and Duties:Perform layout work and assess project requirements Conduct new installations or renovations of buildings on or around campus Order parts and materials, ensuring accurate cost allocation and documentation Perform repair work on campus buildings, both inside and outside, including structural and cosmetic repairs Prioritize and complete tasks within the designated timeframe specified by the requester Conduct daily campus-wide inspections to identify and resolve any necessary repairs Perform in shop work to repair or construct new items such as cabinets, boxes, bookshelves, etc. Comply with all OSHA safety standards and regulations Complete work orders with accurate labor and material costs Maintain neat and orderly shop and truck inventory, ensuring that unused items are returned to their proper locations Adhere to all local and state codes Occasionally review labor and material bids for carpentry jobs Job Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent Valid Virginia driver's license Journeyman-level experience in commercial or residential carpentry Proven ability to effectively use a diverse range of tools and machinery Extensive knowledge in repairing door hardware and all panic devices Basic knowledge of computer and work order systems Additional Information:This is a full-time, classified, non-exempt position in pay band 3.
