The organization is led by an experienced management group with a strong track record of building, scaling, and successfully monetizing energy platforms.Purpose Of Your Position:The Controller will report directly to the CFO and lead the accounting and financial reporting organization. This individual will oversee the day-to-day accounting function while serving as a hands-on partner to senior management. The role will inherit an established accounting team and benefit from a meaningful transition period with the current Controller, creating continuity as the organization moves into its next stage of growth.Primary Responsibilities:Lead the accounting organization and maintain ownership of the company's financial reporting and core accounting activities.Direct accounting operations associated with an upstream oil and gas business, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule.Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while continually improving the efficiency and consistency of the close.Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight to the accounting team, including an experienced Assistant Controller.Partner closely with the CFO and broader executive team on financial, operational, and strategic matters.Maintain an effective internal control environment and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and documentation as the business evolves.Support management reporting, financial analysis, and other information needed to evaluate business performance and inform decision-making.Coordinate with external audit, tax, banking, investment, and other third-party partners.Provide accounting leadership around acquisitions, divestitures, capital transactions, and other strategic initiatives.Help establish scalable accounting processes and infrastructure capable of supporting the organization's next investment and growth cycle.Work collaboratively with the outgoing Controller during the transition period to preserve institutional knowledge and ensure an orderly transfer of responsibilities.Serve as a hands-on financial leader who can operate effectively within a lean organization while remaining closely connected to the underlying business.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.7-15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful leadership responsibility.Substantial accounting experience within the upstream oil and gas industry.Prior experience leading or having significant responsibility for a company's accounting function at the Controller or comparable level.Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general accounting operations, and monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.Strong technical accounting foundation with the ability to apply accounting guidance to complex business matters.Experience managing and developing accounting professionals within a lean organizational structure.Ability to communicate effectively and work closely with executive leadership and other business stakeholders.Comfort operating in an entrepreneurial environment where senior accounting leaders remain actively involved in both strategic and day-to-day matters.CPA preferred.Experience within a private equity-backed organization, transaction environment, or business undergoing a significant ownership or platform transition is preferred.
