Data Engineer

A leading Oil & Gas company is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to lead the next phase of its enterprise data platform modernization. Along with being deeply hands-on in data architecture and engineering, you will also bring strong technical leadership to define standards, shape platform direction, and mentor engineering teams. A core part of this role is modernizing a hybrid cloud and on-prem data ecosystem.ResponsibilitiesData Platform Architecture: Own the design and evolution of scalable data pipelines and architecture across Azure and on-prem systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and long-term scalability.Standardize Data Engineering: Define best practices for Python/SQL development, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and production deployment standards across the data engineering team.Enterprise Integrations: Lead integration of critical systems including SAP, GIS, SCADA, AMI, APIs, and secure data exchange pipelines supporting operational and regulatory workloads.Ensure Data Reliability, Governance & Compliance: Implement data quality, observability, and governance frameworks while supporting regulatory reporting requirements (PHMSA, FERC, state PUC).Requirements8–12+ years of experience in data engineering or enterprise data platform rolesStrong expertise in Python, SQL, and cloud data platforms (Azure preferred)Proven experience designing end-to-end data pipelines and architectures at scaleHands-on experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Bicep), and production systemsExperience integrating complex enterprise systems (SAP, GIS, SCADA, AMI, APIs)Strong background in data governance, reliability, and regulated environmentsAbility to lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers in a collaborative environmentIf you're looking to take the next step in your career and help modernize the data systems that power critical energy infrastructure, don't hesitate to reach out
