Public Works Technician IONLINE APPLICATIONThe City of West Bend is accepting applications for a full-time Public Works Technician I. Reporting to the Public Works Operations Superintendent, this position works courteously with the public primarily outdoors and in varying weather conditions. This position features flexible hours, the potential for overtime work, and a comprehensive benefit package.Essential DutiesThe Public Works Technician I may perform or assist with any or all of the following duties:Manual labor in connection with storm sewer repairs, catch basins, manholes, collapsed pipes, curbside garbage, fall leaves and brush collection, and disposal of refuseTasks associated with the Organics Drop-off Yard at the Municipal GarageAsphalt or concrete repair to streets or alleywaysWinter maintenance operations, including salting roads, snow plowing and haulingGeneral maintenance of vehicles, other equipment and the municipal garageCollaborative work with the Street and Sanitation DivisionsAssist and interact courteously with residentsThis position may be required to work overtime, which may include holidays, weekends and a variety of hours outside the normal five (5) day week. The Public Works Technician I must be available for snow plowing at all times.RequirementsRequirements of this position include:Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with a good driving recordCurrent CDL required, Class A preferredPhysical ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds without assistanceHigh school diploma or GEDBackground check, physical and drug screening.SkillsetAn ideal candidate exhibits the following skills or traits:Strong oral and written communicatorTeam- and goal-orientedEager to take on a variety of job assignments and responsibilitiesBack equipment with or without trailersAble to receive written and oral directionPositive attitudeDependable, dedicated, independent workerComputer literatePreferred ExperiencePreference is given to candidates with experience in the following:Mechanical, concrete, asphalt and storm sewer knowledge.Snow plowingWelding and fabricatingOperating heavy equipmentSalary and BenefitsThe City of West Bend offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including health insurance, paid vacation, dental and vision insurance, and more.
