WAF/Tag Coordinator - RepairSummary: Responsible for developing WAFs utilizing the Electronic Work Authorization Form System (eWAFS); for work control and controlling tag-out of equipment and to work with ship's force to install and remove tags. Responsibilities also include daily coordination and reporting of WAFs and Tag-Outs and other logistics support for the project as assigned. Coordinates and directs the work of trades and subcontractors to perform work within their areas of responsibility to meet project goals. Support production and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment or repair environment. Reports to the Ship Manager. Liaison closely with Quality Assurance, Planning, Subcontractors, Materials, Safety, Customers, Vendors and other NASSCO Departments as appropriate. Develop inter-personal communications with Trade Supervision.Essential Functions and Duties:Ensure WAF/T-O employees have minimum certification prior to being dispatched to perform workVerify Tag Outs are in accordance with applicable documents, Technical Drawings and EOSSComplete and submit Work Authorization Forms (WAFs) for each repair taskUnderstands and manages ship wide safety and housekeeping and ensures goals are being meetParticipates in the logistic planning and execution for the assigned areaParticipates in quality and process improvement techniques; identify problem areas and initiate corrective actionCoordinates material and equipment protection in the assigned areaMonitors trade activities and provides input to the Ship Manager, General Supervisor and Superintendent to initiate appropriate actionCoordinates resolution of conflicting trade/subcontractor prioritiesUnderstands and administers NAVSEA Standard ItemsOther responsibilities and duties as assignedSkills and Qualifications:High School graduate or equivalent with good knowledge of trade responsibilities, ship systems, and shipbuilding practicesTwo (2) years experience in a shipbuilding, repair or equivalent manufacturing environment is desiredGood written and verbal communication skillsEffective reports are a key deliverable of this individual's activitiesPrior supervisory experience is preferredSuccessfully demonstrated knowledge of NASSCO's policies and proceduresExcellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and manage time effectively, including managing and meeting deadlinesDemonstrated ability to work multiple priorities simultaneouslyDemonstrated understanding of ships and ship systemsAbility to read Technical Drawings and use of the Navy Engineering Operational Sequencing System (EOSS)Ability to work well with all levels of personnel – internally, externally and ships forceStrong communication skills to work with multiple organizations onboard ship, on the base or in the shipyardUnderstand conditions required to commence workStrong demonstrated skills in computer applications including ESOMS, eWAFs and MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) are requiredStrong knowledge of the Tag-Out requirements onboard ship for electrical and mechanical isolation using Tag-Out User's ManualAbility to coordinate ship schedule and equipment/system tag-out impactMust be able to pass security background check and obtain a naval base access badgePhysical Demands:Work occurs in both an outdoor shipyard environment and in an office settingSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focusRegularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writingRequires ability to commute physically to various areas of the shipyard including but not limited to shipboard activitiesMust be capable of ascending/descending stairs or ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and transiting through manholes and other confined, congested spacesPhysical dexterity must allow for bending and reachingMust remain alert and comply with all safety requirementsWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed occasionally to dust, fumes, and smokeMust be able to spend up to 60 % of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climatesThe noise level is relatively low to moderate in office environmentsThe noise level in the outdoor shipyard production environment is moderate to noisy 70 % of time which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammeringPosition requires the ability to walk on scaffolding and work at heights aboard vessels under construction or repairAccountability:Directly accountable for supporting the WAF/Tag Out process and completion of assigned area, adhering to schedule, budgets and safe working conditions.Payscale: $67,300 - $88,800This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
