Construction Inspector
We are seeking an experienced Underground Transmission Construction Inspector to provide field oversight and inspection support for major utility projects. This is a boots-on-the-ground role acting as the owner’s representative, ensuring all work is executed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with project specifications and utility standards.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide on-site inspection and oversight of underground transmission construction activitiesMonitor transmission cable pulling and splicing operations (solid dielectric systems required)Oversee installation of underground transmission systems, with HPFF (High Pressure Fluid Filled) experience considered a strong plusEnsure compliance with utility standards, project specifications, and safety/quality requirementsPerform real-time QA/QC inspections and proactively identify potential issues before escalationVerify proper construction means and methods are being followed in the fieldMaintain accurate daily logs, inspection reports, and progress documentationCommunicate field conditions, risks, and challenges clearly to project management and senior stakeholdersAct as the client’s advocate by delivering objective, thorough, and timely reportingRequired Experience & Qualifications10+ years of hands-on underground transmission experienceDirect field experience with transmission cable pulling and splicing (solid dielectric required)Background as a lineman or cable splicer strongly preferredExperience working with utility contractors or underground transmission construction firmsStrong understanding of underground transmission construction methods and best practicesProven ability to identify improper installation practices in real timeExcellent communication skills, with the ability to translate field issues to executive-level stakeholdersOSHA 10 certification requiredDegree preferred, but not required—practical field experience is highly valuedPhysical & Field RequirementsAbility to enter manholes and underground vaultsComfortable working in confined spacesCapable of navigating ladders, stairs, and uneven terrainMust be able to safely access all active construction areas
