The employee works in accordance with established rules andregulations. This employee works with considerable independence undergeneral direction from a supervisor.\*\*Employees within the department or division shall be given firstconsideration\*\*****Examples of Work Performed** Receives requests for information by radio, telephone, Teletype, andcomputer systems and determines appropriate sources to access and/oraction to be taken. Receives and responds to messages and requests from field personnel,external law enforcement agencies and others authorized to receiveinformation. Prioritizes order of response to inquiries. Maintains logs and records. Verifies, updates and enters information into the PoliceDepartment\'s Computer System and National Crime InformationComputer System. The examples of work performed are not intended to be all-inclusive.The City of Wichita reserves the right to assign additional dutiesand responsibilities as needed.**Requirements of Work** Some knowledge of the Federal Communication Commission\'s rules andregulations. Knowledge of standard computer keyboard configurations and abilityto access, interpret, and record information using a video displayterminal and electronic keyboard. Ability to learn, within a reasonable period of time, propertechniques for operating radio transmitting and receiving equipmentand law enforcement related computer systems. Ability to receive and repeat information accurately and quickly. Ability to speak clearly and correctly using the English language. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships withassociates and representatives of outside agencies. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and inwriting.
