CALL CENTER CLERK - TAX COMMCLAYTON COUNTY, GEORGIA CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION CLASSIFICATIONTITLE: CALL CENTER CLERK PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATIONThe purpose of this classification is to answer multiple telephone lines, to communicate effectively with persons requesting information pertaining to property taxes, tax sales, motor vehicle related matters, and exemptions questions; to clearly relay information to the public; to properly route calls to the appropriate division if necessary; to process payments for both property taxes and motor vehicle tags and titles as needed; and to perform administration supportive tasks as required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Performs multiple tasks simultaneously; provides customer service for all incoming calls; answers multiple telephone lines; provides clear and accurate information to callers; provides the general public with directions and referrals, and answers citizens' questions, complaints and/or concerns; takes appropriate action when presented with a routine call. Processes a variety of documentation associated with taxes or other department activities, within designated time frames and per established procedures; distributes documentation or retaining of records as appropriate. Calculates various taxes, interest, penalties and fees; calculating property tax estimates; receives payments via mail or online for property taxes, mobile homes taxes, delinquent taxes, motor vehicle taxes, or other taxes, or payments for other fees or services Records transactions and issues receipts, posts payments to appropriate accounts; receives balances and posts large payments from mortgage companies; balances cash drawers; forwards revenues as appropriate; receives and processes homestead exemption applications; processing property tax returns.ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONSPerforms other related duties as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GED. Must be at least 18-years of age, supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in business, bookkeeping or general office procedures and/or one (l) year previous experience and/or training involving tax office operations, cashiering, customer service or general office work preferred. TYPING SPEED: 35 WPM PREFERRED. (If requested by the department, Typing Test will be administered. Application will be reviewed and sent to the department if all other minimum qualifications are met.) Must be able to pass background check.ADA COMPLIANCEPhysical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals.
