This leadership role is responsible for overseeing import and export customs operations, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, managing departmental performance, and maintaining exceptional client service standards.The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, extensive customs brokerage expertise, and hands-on experience with CargoWise. Candidates must hold an active U.S. Customs Broker License or have passed the exam and applied for licensure.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee end-to-end import and export customs brokerage operations in coordination with the forwarding departmentEnsure compliance with all U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations, tariff classifications, import/export restrictions, and documentation requirementsReview and approve customs entries for accuracy, duty calculations, and regulatory complianceManage ISF (Importer Security Filing) processes and resolve entry-related issues promptlyServe as the primary liaison with U.S. Customs officials, responding to inquiries and resolving compliance mattersStay current on international trade regulations, customs requirements, and trade agreementsBuild and maintain strong client relationships while ensuring high levels of customer satisfactionManage departmental budgets, resource allocation, operational efficiency, and cost-saving initiativesImplement and maintain supply chain security programs, including CTPAT and government compliance requirementsDevelop, maintain, and optimize SOPs and KPIs for operational performanceSupport business development initiatives for both new and existing customer accountsProvide operational, regulatory, and systems training to team members while fostering employee developmentPrepare and report on departmental revenue generation, profit, and loss performancePerform additional duties as assignedQualificationsActive U.S. Customs Broker License requiredCandidates who have passed the Customs Broker Exam and applied for licensure will also be consideredBachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferredEquivalent combination of education and at least 5+ years of customs brokerage experience considered in lieu of degreeMinimum 5–7 years of management experience within customs brokerage or customs operationsStrong knowledge of customs clearance procedures, import/export regulations, and compliance standardsProficiency in CargoWise Customs Entry System requiredRequired Skills and CompetenciesStrong organizational, multitasking, and time management skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesDemonstrated leadership experience managing teams and departmental operationsProven ability to manage budgets, revenue reporting, profit, and loss performanceAnalytical thinking with strong problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to thrive in a fast-paced logistics and customs environmentCustomer-focused mindset with strong relationship management skillsPhysical Requirements and Work EnvironmentWork is performed in a standard office environment with a generally quiet noise levelFrequent sitting, typing, and use of hands and arms requiredOccasional walking and reaching requiredAbility to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionallyMust possess close vision and ability to adjust focusAbility to read, perform simple mathematical calculations, and manage moderate levels of workplace stressMust be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend fluent EnglishTravel RequirementsUp to 10% travel may be requiredWheeler Staffing Partners is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status under applicable law.
