Lead.We integrate human performance, leadership development, and real-world skill building to prepare individuals for meaningful, long-term careers.Fleet Mechanic / Equipment TechnicianThe OpportunityUHP is seeking an experienced Fleet Mechanic / Equipment Technician to support and maintain a diverse fleet of vehicles, heavy equipment, generators, utility vehicles, and campus machinery critical to daily operations and construction efforts.This role is responsible for preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair work, and equipment reliability across a wide range of diesel-powered and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-sufficient, mechanically strong, and comfortable operating in both shop and field environments.The Fleet IncludesConstruction equipment (excavators, dozers, rollers, skid steers, etc.)Vocational trucks (dump trucks, water trucks, fire trucks, etc.)Diesel vehicles and busesUtility vehicles and UTVsSmall engine equipment (mowers, chainsaws, etc.)Diesel generatorsThis position plays a key role in maintaining operational readiness, reducing downtime, extending equipment life, and supporting the continued growth of the UHP campus.What You’ll DoPreventive Maintenance & ServicePerform scheduled preventive maintenance across fleet equipment and machineryConduct oil, filter, fluid, and routine service workMaintain maintenance schedules based on equipment hours and mileageInspect equipment regularly to identify potential failures before breakdowns occurDiagnostics & RepairsDiagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical system issuesTroubleshoot emissions systems, including DEF and after-treatment systemsRepair heavy equipment systems including hydraulics, drivetrains, and electrical componentsPerform repairs on diesel trucks, utility vehicles, generators, and small engine equipmentFabrication & WeldingPerform welding and fabrication repairs as neededRepair buckets, mounts, brackets, and structural componentsModify or reinforce equipment to support operational requirementsFleet Reliability & OperationsMaintain high equipment uptime and minimize operational downtimeTrack and maintain campus fuel depot operationsPrioritize repairs based on operational and construction needsCoordinate major repairs with outside vendors and service providers when requiredInspect potential vehicles and equipment prior to purchaseGenerator MaintenancePerform service and troubleshooting on diesel backup generatorsConduct monthly load testing and ensure generator readiness and reliabilityDocumentation & TrackingMaintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and repair documentationTrack service intervals, equipment hours, and completed maintenance tasksSafety & TrainingMaintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environmentFollow all safety procedures while operating tools and equipmentTrain staff operators on proper and safe equipment useEnsure repaired equipment meets operational safety standardsWhat We’re Looking ForRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in heavy equipment, diesel, or fleet repairStrong experience working with diesel engines and hydraulic systemsExperience troubleshooting electrical and emissions systemsAbility to perform welding and fabrication repairsStrong understanding of preventive maintenance practicesAbility to independently diagnose and repair mechanical issuesValid driver’s licensePreferred QualificationsMilitary equipment maintenance backgroundExperience supporting contractor fleets or heavy equipment dealershipsCertifications in diesel, heavy equipment, or fleet repairExperience servicing diesel generatorsExperience maintaining emergency or vocational vehiclesAdvanced welding or fabrication experiencePhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 75 lbsAbility to work around heavy equipment and machineryAbility to work in both outdoor and shop environmentsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive compensation package401(k)Health, dental, and vision insurancePaid time offProfessional development supportAccess to UHP performance and recovery facilitiesWhy UHPBelong to something, Believe in something, Strive for something.Work alongside a team committed to excellence, growth, and purposeDirect impact on the lives of service members and veteransWork in a unique, high-performance campus environment
