Senior Java Developer

JOB DESCRIPTION - 6 month contract to hire - hybrid (4 days onsite Friday remote)Insight Global is seeking a Senior AI Developer to help lead the modernization of its Broker-Dealer Systems and core technology infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and artificial intelligence, driving the adoption of AI-powered development practices across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise Java development, cloud-native architectures, and AI/ML technologies, with experience leveraging generative AI tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and delivery speed. This individual will partner closely with architects, developers, and business stakeholders to build and modernize high-volume, mission-critical financial systems that support millions of clients. In addition to hands-on development, they will help establish best practices for AI-assisted software engineering, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and AI-driven automation while supporting large-scale technology transformation initiatives.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and deploy scalable Java-based applications and microservices in cloud environments.Drive adoption of AI-assisted development practices using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Large Language Models.Lead modernization efforts from legacy platforms to distributed, cloud-native architectures.Build and implement AI/ML solutions in production environments.Champion CI/CD, automation, code quality, testing, and engineering best practices.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver highly available, high-transaction systems.Mentor engineers and establish standards for AI-enabled software development.REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE7+ years of software engineering experience with Java, Spring, cloud technologies, and web services.2+ years of hands-on AI/ML implementation and production deployment experience.Experience with microservices, containers, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or PCF).Experience working with Large Language Models such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar technologies.Experience with system modernization and digital transformation initiatives.Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions in a collaborative environment.Knowledge of broker-dealer operations or financial services platforms.NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEFinancial services industry experience.Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other messaging technologies.Background in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and QA automation.Experience with Agile methodologies and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
