Pharmacy Manager

Position Summary: The Pharmacist in Charge is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sterile and non- sterile compounding operations, ensuring compliance with USP , , , state regulations, and internal quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to maintain a high level of patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure all compounded medications comply with USP standards, FDA guidelines, and state board of pharmacy regulations. Enforce SOPs for sterile and non-sterile compounding. Conduct internal audits and proactively address compliance gaps. Maintain all required documentation, including formulation records, BUD justifications, environmental monitoring logs, and training records. Serve as the primary contact for inspections, audits, and regulatory inquiries. Compounding & Operational Oversight Oversee daily operations of the compounding lab, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols. Manage inventory of APIs, excipients, and necessary lab supplies to prevent shortages or overstocking. Evaluate and troubleshoot formulation challenges to ensure consistency and stability. Review and approve master formulation records and batch records before release. Leadership & Training Lead and mentor pharmacy staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to compliance protocols. Conduct routine training sessions on USP guideline updates, aseptic technique, and quality control measures. Address performance issues and provide corrective action when necessary. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement among team members. Communication & Collaboration Work closely with leadership to ensure pharmacy goals align with regulatory expectations. Communicate policy updates, procedural changes, and compliance expectations to staff clearly and effectively. Coordinate with prescribers, patients, and internal departments for formulation modifications and problem-solving. Qualifications & Requirements: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Active pharmacist license in Maryland, in good standing. Experience in compounding pharmacy (sterile and non-sterile), preferred Strong knowledge of USP , , and , with experience implementing regulatory changes. Previous leadership or management experience preferred. Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
