Join our Summer Swim Team and lead youth as they continue to grow their swimming skills.Summary/objectiveThe Summer Swim Coach assists with practices for acac members and guests as part of acac's Summer League Swim Team following the head coach's guidelines. The Swim Coach works with children of different ages and ability levels so that they progress effectively to higher levels of swimming.Anticipated start date of May 1, 2026.Essential functionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Maintain vigilance while conducting practice in order to maintain constant control of the group and emphasize safety at all timesConduct effective and progressive swim practicesArrive to work at least 5 minutes before prior to start of practiceBe visible on the pool deck and accessible to answer swim team related questionsHave equipment ready before practice and clean up afterGreet participants as they arriveFollow head coach guidelines as assigned for each practiceCommunicate with participants and/or parents regarding progressIf unable to work, proactively seek substitutes for your shift and immediately inform supervisor of the substitutionResponsible for ensuring assigned practices are covered prior to taking leaveBe in proper Coach/Instructor uniform (bathing suit) at all times while at work and always present the acac brand and standard anytime and anywhere the acac uniform is wornBe knowledgeable of acac aquatic polices and be able to effectively communicate these to members and guestsBe prepared to enforce acac aquatic policies if unsafe situations ariseEnsure ongoing familiarity with acac programs to manage questions and communicate knowledgeably to acac members and guestsRequirementsPhysical demandsMust be able to successfully instruct and demonstrate proper swim techniquesMust be able to actively participate in practiceMust be able to swim in both deep and shallow waterMust be able to work in an often warm and humid environment with heightened noiseMust be able to work in both warm water and cool water poolsMust be able to swim confidently with other participants in the poolRequired competencies, education, and experienceSafety Training for Swim Coaches (STSC) preferredCurrent or expired Red Cross WSI certification preferredPrior teaching and/or coaching experience may be substituted in lieu of certificationSuperior customer service skills; ability to work with both children and adultsAbility to work varied shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidaysAbility to successfully demonstrate proper swim techniques and use of swim equipmentAbility to be creative in finding the best teaching methods to accommodate different populationsMust be at least 15 years oldCompany ExpectationsRead, sign, and abide by the policies included in the Team Member HandbookPark in team member-designated areasClub cleanliness is an all-team responsibility; assist whenever necessary in any area of the club to keep the club neat and cleanAssist with Service DaysAssist with acac programs, special events, or activities outside your departmentPromptly return messagesExhibit a positive attitude at all timesDeliver five-star service to members and guests with friendliness, direct eye contact, and a pleasant demeanor at all timesAffirmative Action/EEO statementacac is an equal opportunity employer that recruits and hires qualified candidates without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, or veteran status.Other duties
