IT Project Manager
Description & Details:The Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute invites applications for the IT Project Manager/Intern Instructor position in the Department of Transportation Support Center. UGPTI offers an exciting opportunity to pursue research, professional development, and outreach in activities that focus on transportation, instructing undergraduate and students, software development, database administration, and network/server administration. The candidate seeking to join us for this position will be involved in a wide range of IT-related transportation issues. The position requires working with a team of computer science students and engineers to develop and maintain web-based applications, databases, and services for transportation agencies at the state and local level of government. Exceptional communication, organizational, and technical skills are essential. This is a full-time, benefited position. Specific responsibilities include:Manage the DOT Support Center Information Technology Function and Teach/Instruct Student Interns - Manage software development projects and assign and mentor student computer science staff; manage and instruct IT student staff to develop in accordance with standards; review and improve development processes; research latest software development techniques and products; administer and maintain database and web servers, processes, and security protocols.Provide mission-critical network support and IT services for the DOT Support Center and Advanced Traffic Analysis Center - Maintain network support and upgrades to CADD workstations; maintain and update hardware, software, and licenses; instruct and train IT student interns on critical network support functions.Software Development and Support - Develop system designs and databases for projects; gather user requirements; assist and mentor students on coding and development; test, debug, and maintain developed applications; manage multiple projects with control tools such as GitHub; manage databases and services in support of applications; instruct/train IT student interns on software development projects;Work Schedule: TBDHiring Range: $76,312 - $101,000 + DOEPay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.Minimum Qualifications: B.S. in Computer Science2 years professional background in Transportation or related application development, database administration, and server administrationExcellent organization, communication, and instruction skillsPotential for excellence in student instruction and teachingPreferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in Computer Science or relatedU.S. Citizen5 plus years professional background in Transportation application development, database administration, and server administrationExperience in advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Server Security, and Geographic Information SystemsCore Competencies:Innovation, Time Management, Teamwork, Communications, and MultitaskingApplicant Materials Required: NDSU Online ApplicationCover LetterResume or VitaOur commitment to caring for our employees isn't just words-it's proven.
