The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care according to the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies their educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Key responsibilities include: Performing assessments and reassessments according to policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrating the ability to make sound independent decisions. Initiating, prioritizing, and implementing the plan of care and revising the plan as indicated. Collaborating with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilizing resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patients, and families. Monitoring and documenting the response to clinical interventions. Facilitating, coordinating, providing, and evaluating education specific to patient and family needs. Delegating tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functioning as a mentor/preceptor and encouraging teamwork. Identifying and communicating opportunities for improvement. Participating in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Complying with regulatory standards. Participating in the practice governance model.
