Grind and Polish Operator

Job Summary
The GP Operator is a hands-on role. The GP Operator is responsible for operating machinery to grind and polish stainless steel coils. The GP Operator must be able to stand and walk for 12 hours a day and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds in the plant.

Duties and Responsibilities
Load coil onto pay off reel, cut bands, and feed to the welder
Weld the head of the new coil to the tail of the exiting coil
Run the strip down the line, starting the polishing heads after the weld has passed, and then stop the strip as the weld reaches the exit shear
Cut the exiting coil from the weld, remove from mill and then band and identify
Cut out the weld, jog the head of the new coil into the coiler reel and start interleaving paper
Monitor and maintain the filtration system, swarf processing equipment, alkali section and grind and polish heads
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
Must be able to read and speak the English language
Must be able to pass a drug test, physical examination, and a background check
Must be able to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Education/Experience
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required
