LS&S is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as the Assistant Library Director. This role is ideal for a seasoned librarian with a strong background in public library services or an individual with proven success in a supervisory capacity. The Assistant Library Director will work closely with the Library Director to oversee the daily operations of the library and will directly manage both the Circulation and Technical Services teams, ensuring exceptional customer service for all patrons.
In this role, the Assistant Library Director will also serve as an ambassador for the library, presenting it to the community in meaningful and enriching ways to enhance the patron experience, increase engagement, and promote greater library usage.

Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
Manages both the Technical Services team and Circulations Services team to include hiring, training, scheduling, assigning tasks, motivating, evaluating, and development
Help manage library Collection
Supervises and provides leadership for day-to-day operations of the library
Develops, plans, promotes, and participates in programs and events
Gathers and maintains information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for area of responsibility
Writes and implements program grants
Provides effective communication on procedures and processes to staff and public
Assists with the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures, and processes
Responds to and resolve patron issues, including account questions and policy enforcement
Maintains an attractive, organized, and well-used library, including creating displays, shelving order, providing thoughtful programs and events, and feedback to the Director on the needs of the community
As needed, work customer service points
Know, understand, and administer the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement, and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library; in addition to these freedoms, support client discretion of materials available at your local library(ies)
Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records
Provides backup to the Library Director as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
ALA-accredited Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science degree
Minimum of (5) five years of public library experience required
At least three years of successful public library management/supervisory experience required
Prior experience with OCLS Worldshare (ILS) strongly preferred
Experience tracking usage statistics, data collection and excel reports
Ability to build strong staff teams and develop staff
Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
Superior customer service skills
Accommodate a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Excellent technical skills, including a familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Suite, and knowledge of various technologies
