Senior Cost Accountant

Job SummaryThe Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for overseeing cost accounting functions within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and financial analysis to support operational efficiency and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory management.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for materialsPerform variance analysis and provide actionable insightsMonitor inventory transactions and work orders to ensure accurate inventory valuationOversee cycle counting program and partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory controlsAssist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and reconciliationsPrepare cost-related financial reports, including margin analysis and product profitabilityAssist with audits by providing documentation and analysis as required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred)5–8+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory managementProficiency in ERP systems (Dynamics 365 preferred) and advanced Excel skillsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilitiesStrong attention to detail and accuracyWork EnvironmentPotential to be hybrid position after initial training period
