The Tax Manager is responsible for the delivery of a full range of tax services for multiple clients across a variety of industries. As such, they provide innovative tax planning, consulting and compliance expertise; completing reviews of complex tax returns. They are also responsible for Associates’ professional development and coaching.The Tax Manager is heavily involved in new and existing client business development and community involvement activities. They provide exceptional client service as a trusted business advisor.Success FactorsResponsibilitiesManage the delivery of a full range of tax services and advise companies and individuals on tax implications of their operationsWork closely with partners, managers and staff to integrate practice development strategies into a team approach to client service and new business developmentLead a team responsible for reviewing tax strategies, ensuring tax compliance and increasing post tax profits to achieve the best corporate and individual tax practices for our clientsManage tax related projects and review tax returns, working with a variety of entities such as corporations, partnerships, estates, trusts and non-profits across various industriesReview data input and resolve technical tax issues; respond to inquiries from the IRS and other taxing authoritiesProvide guidance to Tax Interns and Associates in the scanning and preparation of tax returns; make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy, efficiency and tax saving opportunitiesUnderstand the scope of the engagement and provide input on client retention and fee structureAnswer client calls and emails in a timely manner and with a solution-oriented approachProduce and review tax documents in a timely mannerEnsure client deliverables are met within expectations and set deadlinesIdentify and introduce other firm services based on client needs and discovered opportunitiesSupervise Associates and Interns on engagements and provide guidance on an ongoing basisProvide Associates with client engagement opportunities for developmentParticipate in business development and community activities to help identify and research opportunities on new and existing clientsKeep up to date with local and national business and economic issuesParticipate in continuous learning activities and active research to improve and develop own and others’ technical expertise; apply learned conceptsCollaborate with leader to identify opportunities for efficiencies and proactive engagement managementPeople Management/RelationshipsTake initiative to be a team player (seeks out opportunities to help others)Treat everyone with respectDevelop loyalty and trust with teamSuccessfully adapts to different personalities and working stylesProactively and effectively communicates information regarding status issues to team membersHold self and others accountable for assigned work; seek and provide continuous feedback to learn and develop in role; is open to new ideas and suggestionsBusiness Growth (if applicable)Possesses an understanding of RKL’s business (service lines, competitors) and client service capabilities and the impact of technology upon the firm’s growth and successQualificationTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
