You verify critical dimensions with micrometers and calipers, capture inspection findings, and prepare components for repair or rebuild. You’ll interpret blueprints and schematics to plan your work, construct foundations for pump assembly and disassembly, and use an overhead crane and forklifts to safely move large components. When reassembly begins, you work within precise tolerances to return rotating equipment to peak performance.What you will doDiagnose, disassemble, repair, and rebuild large pumps of multiple designsInterpret blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and construct foundations for pump assembly and disassemblyOperate manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools confidently and safelyUse precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to inspect componentsWork to exacting standards of accuracy and control precision during assemblyOperate overhead cranes and forklifts to handle heavy parts and assembliesWhat you bringHigh school diploma or equivalent7+ years as a pump mechanic or similar role focused on disassembly, inspection, and assembly of large pumps and rotating equipmentHands-on proficiency with hand and power tools; overhead crane and forklift operationAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and inspection readingsStrong written and verbal communicationManual dexterity, control precision, critical thinking, and deductive reasoningAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Tools and technologyManual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric toolsMicrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipmentFork trucks and overhead cranesWork environmentIndustrial shop setting with large machinery, overhead cranes, trucks, and forklifts.
