Medical Assistant -Full Time- No Nights, Weekends or Holidays

Medical Assistant The purpose of this position is to provide direct patient care under general supervision of licensed personnel, maintaining and operating specialized equipment, and performing any other duties deemed necessary to insure optimal patient care and physician service. Medical experience required. On-the-job training provided. This Medical Assistant position requires regular travel to our Layton, Waukesha, Franklin, and Kenosha locations.Assists provider in seeing patients; gathers and records vital signs and medical histories, prepares patients for examination, draws blood, initiates toxicology screens, and administers medications as directed.Records information in electronic medical records (EHR) database or paper chart and gathers all essential components from demographic sheets/consents/credit policies/charge slips, updates medication, and history.Completes necessary paperwork as ordered by provider including printing prescriptions, work restrictions, referrals, and scheduling diagnostic testing.Participates in the correct scheduling of patients, appropriate communication with the scheduling department.Obtains and documents vitals and data regarding modified Aldrete and discharge readiness scores. Assists in discharge of patient with appropriate paperwork.Assists in the performance of chart review on daily basis to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient documentation.Assists in keeping ASC orderly and follows appropriate cleaning protocols.Acts as scribe for provider recording patient information as dictated, when requested.Helps support Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement initiatives as a part of the team.Facilitates communication to physician and health care provider regarding questions about treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians' instructions to patients.Always participates and maintains safety and dignity of patient.In addition, have demonstrated competency and routinely perform duties in at least one of the following:Surgical: Applies and monitors principles of aseptic technique throughout intra-operative period. Assists provider by having all necessary equipment available and ready. Efficiently "turns over" rooms between patients following proper cleaning technique. Communicates all breaches of aseptic technique immediately to the provider and circulating nurse.Effectively communicates with health care providers regarding patient questions and needs. Documents accurately in EHR, creates encounters as needed, properly updates, and utilizes medication module. Tasks and communicates with providers regarding triage needs.High School diploma or equivalent. Certified Medical Assistant certification preferred but will train the right candidate for this role.Related experience preferred.Strong organizational, judgment, communication, and analytical skills; sometimes under pressure.Ability to multi-task and perform multiple priorities.Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients, peers, providers, organizational leadership, and visitors.Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, providers, insurance companies and general public.Ability to work independently, make decisions, and problem solve.Evidence of leadership qualities. Frequently contributing to the improvement of the department and participate in committee participation, task force, etc.Ability to contribute to a team environment and to provide excellent customer service.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.Current certification as Medical Assistant from an accredited certification agency preferred but willing to train candidate with medical experience.BLS certified or obtain certification within three months of hireThis position requires the following pre-employment testing:Criminal & Caregiver Background Check, renewed every four yearsProfessional Reference CheckTB & Rubella ScreenHep B and QuantiFERON ScreenDrug Screen
