Fractional Chief Development Officer
Role OverviewPartner with the Executive Director and Board during a pivotal period of growth and transformation to build long-term philanthropic capacity while preserving community programs.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and manage a major donor portfolio
Coach and engage the Board in relationship-based fundraising
Partner with the Executive Director and Deputy Director on major donor cultivation and solicitation visits
Develop a corporate sponsorship and partnership strategy
Create individualized cultivation plans for high-potential donors
Strengthen donor stewardship, moves management, and fundraising systems
Help position the organization to secure $250,000–$500,000 in major gifts and multi-year philanthropic commitments (while recognizing that ethical fundraising professionals do not guarantee results)
Ideal QualificationsExperience with women's leadership and racial + gender equity organizations
Knowledge of Alameda County, Berkeley, and/or Oakland government departments and legislators
Background with racial equity and social justice nonprofits
Major gifts experience ($10,000–$100,000+)
Corporate partnerships and sponsorships experience
Board fundraising coaching and engagement
Familiarity with Bay Area philanthropy and family foundations
