Founding Engineer (Python Data Scientist)

What we're looking for: We seek a talented and motivated Mid-Level Python Data Scientist to join our dynamic technology team as our first hire. This role is integral to driving data-driven decisions and leveraging cutting-edge technologies to solve complex problems. You will work directly with our founders and grow alongside the company, helping us scale from 0 to 1.As a Mid-Level Python Data Scientist, you will develop and deploy data-driven solutions using Python. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain data pipelines, analyze data, and create predictive models. Your expertise in FastAPI, MongoDB, Pandas/Polars, Scikit-Learn and LLMs will enhance our data science capabilities. You will report directly to the CTO.

Responsibilities: Data Pipeline Development:

• Design and build robust data pipelines to process and transform data from various sources, including scraped websites.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the pipelines.
• Utilize MongoDB for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Data Analysis and Modeling:
• Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights using Pandas/Polars.
• Develop, implement, and maintain predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and present findings to stakeholders.
• API Development:
• Develop and deploy RESTful APIs using FastAPI for data access and model deployment.
• Collaborate with software engineers to integrate APIs into applications.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with data engineers, software developers, and product managers to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data science and related technologies.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data science practices and tools.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in data science or a related role. Proficiency in Python and experience with libraries such as Pandas, Polars, Scikit-learn, and NumPy. Familiarity with FastAPI for building APIs. Proficiency in working with MongoDB (or any other NoSQL databases) and Redis. Familiarity with natural language processing using LLMs. Experience with data visualization tools and libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly).Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Familiarity with early-stage startups or fast-moving environments.
