Mechanical Engineer

Join our dynamic engineering firm on an exciting 4-6 week remote project designed for skilled professionals eager to make an impact from anywhere. As a Mechanical Engineer supporting cutting-edge federal projects, you\'ll play a pivotal role in reviewing, validating, and finalizing mechanical designs for specialized fabricated equipment, structural and lifting analysis, and HVAC systems—contributing to innovative solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. What You\'ll Do: Review and validate mechanical designs in CAD platforms like SolidWorks and Inventor, ensuring compliance with standards and client specifications Provide technical oversight and direction to designers and drafters, ensuring fabrication documents meet quality and safety requirements Conduct structural analysis of weldments and support framing for high-density shielding and lifting systems, adhering to ASME, AISC 360, and AWS D1 standards Calculate heating, cooling, and ventilation loads, ensuring optimal performance of containerized systems Collaborate with electrical engineers and external structural consultants to deliver precise engineering documentation and project deliverables Support fabrication processes through comprehensive review of drawings, weld schedules, bills of material, and inspection requirements Ensure all engineering documentation complies with applicable codes, client requirements, and Quality Level 3 (QL-3) standards Required Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including a minimum of 3 years supporting custom fabricated equipment, weldments, or heavy fabrication Proven experience performing structural and load calculations, especially for fabricated equipment and lifting systems Strong HVAC load calculation skills for portable or packaged air conditioning units Proficiency with SolidWorks, including Simulation, and familiarity with STEP geometry U.S. citizenship with the ability to work independently in a remote setting Nice to Have Skills: Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience with overhead hoists, crane runway design, and structural lifting devices Knowledge of containment ventilation, pressure cascade design, and negative pressure enclosures Experience working with modular, containerized, or transportable systems Familiarity with commercial-grade dedication and QL-3 quality standards Prior review and approval experience of CAD-generated work Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering 8+ years of applicable industry experience, including recent work supporting custom and fabricated mechanical systems Other Requirements: Ability to work fully remotely with minimal supervision Availability to support a short-term project timeline with flexibility to meet key milestones #J-18808-Ljbffr
