Position TitleHead Women’s Cross Country Coach /Assistant Track CoachAppointment TypeContractJob DescriptionThe Iowa State University Athletics Department is looking for a dynamic Head Women’s Cross Country Coach /Assistant Track Coach to build on our culture of competitive success in conference and national competition and in the classroom. This position will assist the Director of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Track and Field with all phases of the NCAA Division I programs to help develop our student-athletes to reach their full potential.Examples Of What You'll DoPlan effective practice sessions and competitive coaching situations for assigned eventsEffectively teach, mentor, and coach to develop well-rounded student-athletes and contribute to and enhance a nationally competitive athletic experienceIdentify and successfully recruit and retain academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletesEstablish and maintain an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes and help ensure academic progress and graduationAssist with meet management planning, logistics and operationsAssist with administrative functionsAdhere to University, Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, and regulationsEstablish and maintain effective interactions with the students, colleagues, university community, alumni, media, and the publicThe ideal candidates will have expertise and success with cross country and distance events. This position requires an excellent work ethic along with exceptional motivational, teaching/coaching and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Requires the ability to travel extensively including overnight stays for recruiting and competitions and some international travel.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.Required Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree.Experience coaching or competing in cross country and/or track distance events at a highly competitive level (post high school).Preferred QualificationsEstablished history of coaching NCAA Division I or professional cross country and distance track athletes to successful performance outcomes.Demonstrated ability to recruit and coach highly skilled student–athletes and have strong recruiting connections.About ISU AthleticsAs an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision athletics program and a founding member of the Big 12 Conference, Iowa State University sponsors 18 intercollegiate athletics teams and supports 450 student-athletes in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence.
