The facility consists of a 1.5-million-gallon Aquarium Adventure showcasing 35,000 live fish, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds, and immersive Wildlife Galleries sharing the story of America's most significant conservationists throughout history and today.Senior Animal Keeper - Ambassador AnimalsWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced SENIOR KEEPER to join the Wonders of Wildlife team! Thisindividual will work under the supervision of the Curatorial team, and will provide an advance knowledge of animalhusbandry in their associated teams and gallery.Essential Functions:Must demonstrate a high level of husbandry knowledge in their area and assigned gallery, through regular feedings, water quality monitoring, administering treatments, exhibit maintenance, developing husbandry and veterinary behavioral training programs and environmental enrichment programs.Is considered a role model for performing consistent, high quality animal husbandry practices on a daily basis, consistently maintains excellent standards. Assumes leadership role with working and training staff, interns, and volunteers.Considered a point person for questions about husbandry practices and provides mentorship to less experienced staff.Actively involved in AZA, participating as IR for assigned species in their area, and other internal and external conservation programs.Assist Leads with organizing daily and weekly operations of the team's projects and goals.Assist Leads with addressing animal welfare concerns in a timely fashion.Assists Leads with the management of internship program, including hiring, and training of new interns.Strives to build and maintain a cooperative attitude and working relationships with colleagues and other departments associated with Wonders of Wildlife.Practices good judgment in decision-making as related to animal care, emergencies, and projects particularly in the absence of Curatorial Staff.Participates in monthly professional development training, revolving around advancing husbandry knowledge.MINIMUM Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education:A Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a four-year degree at the discretion of WOW.Preferred six years of experience in a facility working with birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and more.
