Associate Software Engineer - Integrations
About the RoleWe're seeking an Associate Software Engineer for our Shared Services team who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow into a well-rounded platform engineer. We're the internal services team behind HeroDevs, the company that keeps critical open-source software secure long after it reaches end of life. Our mission is to build the platforms, pipelines, and automation that the rest of the company runs on, including the systems that deliver data and secure package releases to our integration partners. We care about doing things carefully, automating what shouldn't be manual, and giving new engineers a supportive place to grow.You'll work closely with experienced engineers on our team to build, test, and automate the pipelines that move data between our internal systems, our APIs, and our integration partners.Your manager will define the scope of each project and set the approach for how we work with partner data, so you can focus on building. This is a learning-focused role and a strong fit for recent graduates with a solid programming foundation who want real-world experience with APIs, automation, and production systems.ResponsibilitesBuild, test, and maintain automated jobs that deliver data from internal systems to our integration partnersWork with existing HeroDevs data sources and internal APIs to retrieve, transform, and validate dataWrite scripts and small services using JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, or PythonBuild and maintain CI/CD workflows using GitHub ActionsAdd monitoring and alerting so delivery failures surface quickly, and help triage them when they doTroubleshoot and debug integration issues, including malformed data and failed deliveriesCollaborate with team members through code reviews and daily standupsWrite clear technical documentation for the integrations you buildRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related fieldStrong foundation in at least one programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript or Python preferred)Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and how web services communicateFamiliarity with databases and basic SQL queriesExperience with Git or other version control toolsCuriosity, accountability, and a willingness to learn new technologiesEffective written communication and the ability to work well in a distributed teamNice-to-Have SkillsExposure to Node.js and the npm ecosystemFamiliarity with CI/CD tooling, especially GitHub ActionsExperience with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) or containerization with DockerCoursework, internship, or personal project experience with APIs, data pipelines, ETL, or automationFamiliarity with Agile development and tools like GitHub, Jira, or DockerInterest in open-source software and its long-term maintenance
