The district values collaboration, continuous improvement, and practical problem-solving in its day-to-day operations.Role Description The Operations Team Lead is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Fort Smith Area, responsible for overseeing daily solid waste and recycling operations. This role coordinates schedules, assigns tasks, and provides direction to operations staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility activities. The Operations Team Lead monitors workflows, addresses operational issues, and supports the implementation of procedures that improve service quality and resource utilization. The role regularly interacts with community members, vendors, and partner agencies to support customer satisfaction and resolve service concerns. The Operations Team Lead also assists with reporting, basic data tracking, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.Qualifications Strong operations management skills, including experience coordinating day-to-day activities, optimizing processes, and maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.People management capabilities, such as leading teams, providing clear direction, coaching staff, and supporting a positive, inclusive work environment.Customer satisfaction focus, with the ability to address concerns, maintain professional relationships, and represent the organization effectively to the public.Analytical skills for monitoring performance, interpreting operational data, identifying trends, and supporting data-informed decisions.Effective communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication with team members, leadership, and external stakeholders.Experience in waste management, logistics, public works, or a related operational field is preferred.Familiarity with workplace safety standards, equipment operation, and basic maintenance practices is beneficial.High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or postsecondary education in operations, environmental services, or related areas is an asset.Ability to work on-site in varying weather conditions and meet the physical demands of an operational environment.
