You take ownership of your work end-to-end, raise the technical bar for those around you, and enjoy mentoring less experienced engineers while continuing to grow your own craft.You embody Ontic’s values: Do Good Above All, Raise the Bar, Lead with Empathy, Walk the Walk, and Keep Moving.ResponsibilitiesDesign & Development: Independently design and build scalable, reliable full stack features and services spanning backend and frontendTechnical Leadership: Lead technical design discussions for medium-to-large features and drive sound architectural decisionsCollaboration: Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers in an agile environment to scope, plan, and deliver workCode Quality & Reviews: Conduct thorough code reviews and uphold high standards for performant, maintainable code across the stackMentorship: Mentor associate and mid-level engineers on technical best practices and help guide their growthPerformance & Reliability: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security concernsOwnership: Own features end-to-end — from design and development through deployment and operational supportTechnical Debt: Identify and help prioritize technical debt to support long-term maintainabilityRequired QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldExperience: 4–6 years of hands-on software engineering experience, with solid knowledge of both backend and frontend technologiesStrong algorithmic and problem-solving abilityWorking knowledge of system design and common architectural patternsFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure), and DevOps workflowsBackend ExpertiseSolid experience with service implementation in Java, Spring Boot, MongoDB, and ElasticsearchExperience designing and building RESTful APIs and working with data at scaleFrontend ExpertiseStrong proficiency with JavaScript, React, and modern frontend frameworksExperience with state management (Redux, Zustand, React Query) and frontend performance considerationsHands-on experience with ES2015+, TypeScript, Webpack, Jest, Tailwind, and TDD practicesExperience building responsive, accessible, and visually polished UIThis role is based in Austin, Texas, and requires working from the Austin office three days a week.This role supports a FedRAMP environment and requires that work be performed within the United States by individuals authorized to work in the U.S. and who are U.S. citizens.Ontic Benefits & PerksCompetitive SalaryMedical, Vision & Dental Benefits401kStock OptionsHSA ContributionLearning StipendFlexible PTO PolicyQuarterly company ME (mental escape) daysGenerous Parental Leave policyHome Office StipendMobile Phone ReimbursementHome Internet Reimbursement for Remote EmployeesAnniversary & Milestone CelebrationsOntic is an equal-opportunity employer.
