Quality Engineer
We are currently hiring a Quality Engineer at our Millersburg, Oregon location reporting to the Quality Manager. This is an onsite, day shift position typically working Monday-Friday from 6 AM to 2 PM. This is a great opportunity for a recent engineering graduate with some work experience or internship experience in manufacturing, sampling, quality inspection or other quality related experience.As a Quality Engineer you are instrumental in the review of Quality Documentation for release of products to both internal and external customers from our Chemical Operations Department. This position will work closely and collaboratively with Operations to ensure alignment between quality requirements and production activities.To be successful and provide immediate impact, you will have to quickly grasp ATI's processes and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Operations, Engineering, Inspection, Planning and union employees. The Quality Engineer will be able to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse personalities, have strong interpersonal skills, and ability to express and challenge ideas and convey information effectively in oral and written format. This is a day shift position and typically works on-site Monday-Friday. This role aligns with manufacturing hours with a typical workday beginning around 6 AM or earlier depending on production needs.Primary ResponsibilitiesEvaluate laboratory results for conformance to specifications and initiate and manage nonconformances when results fall outside acceptable limitsImplement risk mitigation actions to improve Right First Time (RFT) compliance for contracts, manufacturing, testing, and inspection activitiesReview process records/travelers, issue/assess process nonconformance's, and prepare release documents for product certificationResearch, read, understand and interpret customer purchase order requirements, contract agreements, specifications, standards and any necessary supporting quality documentation as it relates to customer/internal deliverablesReview incoming raw materials certifications and material specifications, sample, and release material for production usePerform OPM inventory reviews, material transactions, batch completionOvercheck sampling execution to ensure correct techniques, frequencies, and sample integritySupport continuous improvement of sampling procedures, documentation templates, and quality‐control workflowsCollect and analyze process data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or opportunities for optimizationContribute to improvement projects focused on yield, quality, sampling accuracy, or documentation reliabilityPromote and uphold safety protocols, including handling of reactive metals, chlorination byproducts, and high‐temperature equipmentSupport production departments through quality engagement with shop floor interactions, quality inspections, and other duties as assignedProven to Perform.From the edges of space to the bottoms of ocean, our materials are proven to perform -- and so is our team. Join us.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Science, Metallurgical or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and specifications.Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.Ability to work on‐site in a heavy‐industrial setting and comply with all safety requirements.Preferred Qualifications2-years' experience in manufacturing environmentQuality experience and knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 standards and Quality SystemsWorking knowledge of continuous‐improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.).We thrive when the expectations are great, and the barriers are high.
