This role will work closely with senior leadership to help lead a growing portfolio of power delivery projects, including transmission, distribution, substations, protection and controls, interconnection, and related electrical infrastructure.As an Associate Director, you will play a key role in both technical execution and team leadership. This position is ideal for a senior-level professional who enjoys leading teams, supporting clients, driving project delivery, and staying close to the technical work. The Associate Director will help mentor project managers and engineering staff, support business development efforts, and contribute to the continued growth and operational success of Atwell’s Power Delivery practice.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport senior leadership in leading Power Delivery projects across transmission, distribution, substations, protection and controls, interconnection, and related electrical infrastructureProvide technical guidance and oversight for engineering, design, project execution, and quality control activitiesManage, mentor, and support Project Managers, engineers, designers, and technical staff within the Power Delivery teamServe as a primary point of contact for clients on active projects, ensuring clear communication, strong relationships, and successful project deliveryAssist in managing project performance, including scope, budget, schedule, staffing, and resource planningPartner with leadership on business development efforts, including maintaining existing client relationships and supporting new opportunitiesHelp grow and develop the team through recruiting, onboarding, mentorship, and technical developmentSupport operational improvements by helping refine internal processes, standards, workflows, and delivery practicesAssist with annual planning efforts, including forecasting, staffing needs, project backlog, and market growth initiativesHelp ensure consistency, quality, and technical excellence across project deliverablesSupport coordination across internal teams, clients, utilities, and external project stakeholdersPromote a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environmentQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; PE license preferred8+ years of experience in Power Delivery, electric utility, consulting, or related power infrastructure workExperience in one or more of the following areas: transmission, distribution, substations, protection and controls, power system studies, interconnection, or utility infrastructureProven experience managing projects, leading teams, and supporting client relationshipsAbility to provide technical oversight while also supporting project management, staffing, and operational needsDemonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and develop engineering or design talentStrong understanding of engineering and design workflows for power delivery projectsExperience working with utility clients, renewable energy clients, developers, or large-scale infrastructure clients preferredInterest in growing into a broader senior leadership role with increasing responsibility over timePay Range - $135,000 - $175,000+, +bonus, + benefits.
