You will focus on light repairs, basic maintenance, and general upkeep of the property, without responsibility for complex HVAC, boiler, chiller, or large mechanical system maintenance.ResponsibilitiesPerform general handyman and facilities maintenance tasks throughout the mall.Complete painting projects, including surface preparation, patch work, and finishing.Repair and install drywall and sheetrock, ensuring clean and durable results.Carry out basic carpentry work such as minor repairs, framing, and fixture installation.Repair and replace floor tiles, including removal, cutting, and fitting new tiles.Change and re-key door locks as needed to maintain security and access control.Diagnose and replace lighting ballasts to ensure proper operation of lighting systems.Install 20-amp wall outlets safely and in accordance with basic electrical standards.Perform basic electrical tasks within scope, such as replacing switches, outlets, and fixtures.Support minor plumbing tasks, such as basic fixture repairs and leak checks, as appropriate to skill level.Change oil and filters on small engines and equipment used for facilities operations.Conduct basic preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment within defined scope.Use hand tools and basic power tools safely and effectively for daily tasks.Assist with general cleaning and upkeep of maintenance work areas.Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds as part of daily work.Essential SkillsProven experience in facilities maintenance or handyman work in a commercial or similar environment.Hands-on skills in painting, including patch work, surface preparation, and finish work.Practical experience with carpentry tasks such as repairs, framing, and installation.Ability to perform drywall and sheetrock installation and repair.Experience with tile repair and replacement, including cutting and fitting tiles.Basic electrical skills, including diagnosing and changing ballasts and installing 20-amp wall outlets.Fundamental plumbing knowledge sufficient for minor repairs within a facilities setting.Ability to perform basic mechanical and preventive maintenance tasks on small engines and equipment.Comfort and proficiency using basic hand tools and common maintenance tools.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely as part of regular duties.Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.Commitment to working safely and following established procedures and guidelines.Additional Skills & QualificationsCertification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical trades is a strong plus.Prior experience in a retail, mall, or multi-tenant facility environment is beneficial.Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a dynamic setting.Good problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose basic maintenance issues.Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and building occupants.Why Work Here?This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-traffic environment where your hands-on skills make an immediate and visible impact on the quality and safety of the facility. The position is physically active, requiring standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Attire should be practical and appropriate for maintenance work, allowing safe use of tools and equipment and compliance with any on-site safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment when needed.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn, MA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
