Gymnastics Coach

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Gymnastic Coach to join our team! As a Gymnastics Coach, you will provide direct leadership, instruction, motivation, and coaching to students in gymnastics to prepare them for competition, according to YMCA and USAG guidelines for competitive Gymnastics Team Key Responsibilities: Prepare lesson plans with a natural progression appropriate to the level of the competitive gymnast. Develop a gymnastics team's competitive program based on and using the USA Gymnastics guidelines. Design and develop a skill curriculum for pre-competitive gymnasts with the assistance of the Gymnastics Director. Attend and assist in competitive meet competitions. Coach youth in various competitive levels of gymnastics skills and progression. Provide safe spotting techniques and support a safe environment of learning. Create appropriate conditioning workouts to support skill progression. Responsible for instruction of competitive gymnastics skills and progression. Enforce all safety rules and regulations in the gymnastics gym. Keep accurate records of each class participant's progress reports. Accurately track class attendance. Communicate with parents and supervisor regarding participants' performance and needs. Organize competitive team workout schedule that maximizes success and improvement for each athlete, with the assistance of the Gymnastics Director. Are you a good fit? Minimum of three years' experience in teaching gymnastics and/or four years of personal gymnastics experience. Five years or more experiences as coach or competitor preferred. Possess the knowledge and skills to instruct beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of boys and girls gymnastics. Has an understanding of USA Gymnastics guidelines and working knowledge of Junior Olympic Program. Previous experience working with children preferably in a program setting and diverse populations. Possess the knowledge and skills needed to prepare gymnasts mentally and physically for competition in the USAG and YMCA programs. Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required. Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission. Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events. Cleaning and sanitation protocols will be required of all staff. Staff will be responsible for frequent touchpoint cleaning and sanitizing in specific areas. Staff are expected to adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of PPE. Embraces and actively promotes an inclusive and equitable work environment. Other duties as assigned.
