Direct Support Professional
The T.A. Home Program is an at-home based program designed to support a 28-year-old man with autism and help him build as well as maintain a good quality of life. We are looking to hire and train two individuals as Direct Support Professionals who can work 24-28 hours per week. Schedules to be determined but can be somewhat flexible. Shifts Offered (Mondays through Saturdays):Day Shift) 9am – 2pm/3pmEvening Shift) 2pm/3pm – 8pm Though autism experience is a plus, it is not required. A college degree is also not required.Job Description & Responsibilities:A direct support professional is a trained caregiver who works directly with individuals who live with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, helping them to lead fulfilling lives. A DSP with the T.A. Home Program is responsible for…o Fostering community integration by encouraging and participating in social outings.o Assisting and participating in recreational activities such as biking, scootering, bowling, basketball, and our personalized, pedal-drive recycling program.o Aiding in the implementation of some communication programs, such as reading and typing.o Providing support with personal hygiene tasks and sensory integration practices.o Documenting critical information such as medication administration. o Assisting with behavioral interventions, both physical and non.An ideal candidate…o Will be reliable, dependable, and personable.o Must not smoke (due to severe allergies).o Be willing to convert to unscented hygiene products (due to severe allergies).o Be willing to adapt to this role.Qualifications:o High School Diploma or GED o Driver’s License and Reliable Form of Transportationo Fluent in Englisho Consent To and Pass a Background CheckThe Direct Support Professional position at the T.A. Home Program starts at $19.50/hour. Once the 6-week training period has been completed the hourly rate increases to $25/hour. Unfortunately, no benefits except some PTO (can be discussed in person).
