Senior Mechanical Engineer – Loads and Dynamics
Responsibilities & Essential Duties Perform structural dynamic analyses for missile and spacecraft flight hardwareProduce and maintain models generated from both in-house and commercially available software codes, that simulate mechanical loading conditions, mechanism deployment motions, and the response behavior of missile segment and spacecraft separation eventsPerform loads development (primary structure and component level), shock and vibration environments determination and component and system level testing and data evaluationPrepare test plans; static, separation dynamics, vibration, modal and shock test execution, and post-test reports. You will be an important part of our product development team, where effective communication is criticalHave the ability to work on a multi-disciplined team performing structural design trades, preliminary and detailed design/analysis activity and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systemsQualifications (Experience, Education, & Skills) Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering or similar technical fieldProfessional work experience performing structural dynamics analyses and loads/environments development for spacecraft, aircraft, or missiles2+ years of experience within structures AND structural dynamicsExperience in finite element modeling and analysis using NX/NASTRAN, LS-Dyna, Wave6, or equivalentExperience in programming and use of MATLAB (or equivalent) for analysis and data manipulationsKnowledge or experience implementing aircraft, missile OR spacecraft structural dynamic methodsMust be a US Citizen with an active Secret Clearance; ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret ClearanceA Master's degree is strongly preferred for this positionExperience in the planning and execution of static, vibration, acoustic, modal, and shock testing for aerospace flight hardwareProficiency with structural dynamics rigid body and flexible body analyses of composite structures, metallic structures, and/or mechanismsProficiency in Finite Element Modeling, modal analysis, Coupled Loads Analysis (CLA), and model correlation/verificationExperience leading structural dynamics analyses while collaborating effectively with adjacent disciplines in a highly integrated team environmentExcellent communication skills—both written and verbal, self-motivated, and able and willing to support multiple projects
