We work with companies across the country and are committed to delivering reliable service and practical solutions to our clients.We are currently accepting applications for a Corporate Counsel to join our team in Ashburn, Virginia. This is a part-time, fully in-person opportunity for an experienced employment attorney seeking meaningful, hands-on work advising business leaders and supporting federal contracting clients.This role will focus primarily on employment law counseling, compliance guidance, and supporting a wide range of internal and client-related legal matters. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with leadership and business stakeholders.Position OverviewThe Corporate Counsel will advise management and internal teams on federal and state employment law matters. Responsibilities include counseling on employment-related questions arising from our federal contracting clients, drafting employment policies and documents, delivering training, and assisting with administrative agency matters.This role will also support general business legal needs, including contract review, compliance guidance, and coordination with outside counsel when necessary.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide legal advice to leadership and internal stakeholders on federal and state employment law mattersAdvise on labor and employment issues affecting federal contracting clientsDraft and review employment-related policies, agreements, and compliance documentationDevelop and deliver employment law-related training and guidanceHandle administrative charges filed with the EEOC and corresponding state agenciesConduct or support internal employment-related investigationsAdvise management on employee relations and disciplinary mattersReview and assist with client contracts and commercial agreementsProvide guidance on SaaS agreements, commercial lease matters, insurance issues, and general corporate legal questionsRespond to subpoenas, demand letters, and assist with litigation managementCoordinate with outside counsel as neededRequired QualificationsBachelor's DegreeJ.D. from an accredited law schoolActive Virginia bar license (or admission elsewhere with ability to obtain Virginia admission)Five to eight years of employment law experience, either in-house or at a law firmDemonstrated experience advising business leaders on employment law matters, including: FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, WARN, Title VII, OSHAExperience handling administrative matters with agencies such as: EEOC, OFCCP, Department of LaborExperience drafting and reviewing employment-related documents, including: Employment agreements, Confidentiality agreements, NDAs, Separation agreements, Non-competition agreements, Employee handbooks and policiesExperience conducting or supporting internal investigations and advising managementStrong ability to review, interpret, and recommend improvements to company policies and compliance programsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsQualifications That Will Make You Stand OutExperience advising federal contractorsFamiliarity with Certified Professional Employer Organizations (PEO)Knowledge of Service Contract Act requirementsExperience applying intersecting leave laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, state paid leave laws, etc.)Experience defending employment-related claims or supporting litigationArbitration experienceExperience advising on California employment lawsERISA benefit plan experiencePrior experience working both in a law firm and in-house settingExperience managing EPLI claims or advising on EPLI coverageActive bar license in multiple D.C. region jurisdictions (Virginia, Maryland, D.C.)Preferred Interpersonal SkillsAbility to work collaboratively with leadership and business teamsStrategic thinker with strong risk-assessment capabilitiesAbility to operate independently in a part-time environmentStrong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple prioritiesAbility to translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidanceAdaptability and intellectual curiosityC2 Essentials is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
