Job HighlightsThe Physical Therapy Assistant assists in the implementation of the rehabilitative plan of care under the direction and supervision of a qualified physical Therapist.QualificationsAssociate degree or higher in science or applied science for physical therapy assistantMust pass a state-administered exam or the National Physical Therapy Exam administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical TherapyCurrent certification or license as required by state lawOne (2) year of experience in a health care settingExcellent interpersonal communication skills. Proficient in English and Spanish. Compassionate and attentive to detail. Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices. Ability to solve problems independently. Ability to write reports and correspondence at a professional level. Ability to use a computer and software proficiently within Wellsky (formerly Kinnsar) EMR.ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Physical Therapist, assists in evaluation and development of the rehabilitative plan of care and in periodic re-evaluation as indicatedAs directed, performs routine strengthening and therapeutic exercisesAssists in teaching exercise programs to client and familyConsults with the Therapist regarding the outcome of home visits and reports physical findings in written formAssists client in use of self-help devicesParticipates in Therapy and other in-service programsAttends rehabilitation department staff meetings and case conferencesAssumes duties deemed appropriate and necessary by the supervising physical TherapistWrites daily progress notes on clients, and submits same no less often than weekly, and prepares periodic summary reports as indicatedCommunicates effectively with all those providing careConfirms, on a weekly basis, the scheduling of visits with the Supervisor/DON to coordinate necessary visits with other personnelNotifies Agency of absences due to illness, emergency leave, normal vacation periods, or special professional meetings which will affect agreed services with the AgencyBenefitsPay: Varies by visitLocation: In-personJob Type: Full timeSpecial RequirementsMust have a car with required insurance coverage and a state driver's license or reliable transportationCarry malpractice insuranceFunctional AbilitiesAble to communicate verbally and in writing to the extent required by the positionAble to physically perform the duties required by the position Able to travel to prospective clients' residences within Miami-Dade and Monroe County
