Distributed & Fluid Systems Engineer – Automatic Fire Extinguishing Systems (AFES)Location: Sterling Heights, MIPay: $46–$51/hourWork Type: OnsiteClearance: Ability to Obtain Security ClearanceOverview:Seeking a Distributed & Fluid Systems Engineer to design and develop Automatic Fire Extinguishing Systems (AFES) and other mechanical/fluid subsystems for military ground vehicles. This role supports design release, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and production of critical vehicle systems.Key Responsibilities:Design and release AFES, fuel, hydraulics, pneumatics, camera cleaning, cooling distribution, and bilge systemsIntegrate components into vehicle platforms to meet performance, safety, and survivability requirementsDevelop fluid system architecture, schematics, and analytical modelsPerform mechanical design analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and engineering changesSupport prototype builds, production, sustainment, and troubleshooting effortsCreate and support DFMEA, DVP&R, SSDD, and SRS documentationConduct failure analysis and implement corrective actionsDirect CAD model and drawing developmentPresent technical concepts and program status to leadership and customersRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field5–7 years of relevant engineering experienceStrong understanding of mechanical and fluid systems engineering principlesExperience with prototype and production supportExperience with root cause / corrective action processesAbility to work independently and in cross-functional teamsStrong communication and organizational skillsPreferred Skills:Experience with Automatic Fire Extinguishing Systems (AFES)Experience developing fluid schematics and troubleshooting distributed systemsProficiency with NX and/or CreoExperience with Teamcenter and Vis MockupPrior experience with ground combat vehicles or defense platformsAbility to travel up to 10%Why Join CPI?For over 40 years, Contract Professionals, Inc.
