Come join our team!Route Supervisors are responsible for the supervision of a group of drivers to ensure safe services to customers. Route Supervisors assist management with hiring, training, coaching, performance evaluating/monitoring, and counseling of direct reports with an emphasis on safety, customer service, and productivity.Shift: 830am-6:00pmResponsibilities of Position:Manage the daily activities and performance of route driversTrain, coach, and direct employees to improve their overall performanceMonitor and enforce quality and safety standards and ensure all compliance goals are met or exceededRun routes as necessary (absences, vacations, vehicle breakdowns)Monitor and track employee attendance and all other required documentation relating to performance managementPerform and monitor driver observations and vehicle inspectionsPlan, distribute, monitor, and follow-up on daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per company standards and agreementsConduct investigations for accidents, injuries, and property damage claimsFill in during the absence of other supervisors/office employees or driversPerform other duties as assigned by managementSupervisory Responsibility: This position will manage 6-20 employeesThis position will not oversee and direct other managersSkills & Abilities Needed for Position: Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to lead and develop a teamComputer skills; working knowledge of Windows applications, Microsoft applicationsProven customer service skillsKnowledge of the area with the ability to read mapsMust be able to work independently, make decisions, and resolve problemsMust have knowledge of DOT/OSHA regulationsAbility to drive a truck with manual transmission, a plusExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position: Previous management experience is preferredPrevious waste industry experience is a plus2+ years of truck driving experience is a plusPhysical Requirements in a Regular Workday: Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbsOccasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbsFrequently working outside in changing temperaturesOccasionally working in wet/humid conditionsOccasionally working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matterFrequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawlingFrequently climbing and/or balancingFrequently sitting/standing/walkingAdditional Working Conditions/Aspects: Must have at least a valid Class B CDLMust have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hireMust be at least 19 years of ageNo more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 yearsMust not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 yearsPossible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areasExposure to residential and commercial wasteAbility to travel between offices, as requiredAbility to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as neededAbility to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidaysMust be available for 24-hour emergency callsLegally eligible to work in the United StatesValid driver's license (if applicable)Must successfully complete pre-employment testingMust be able to read and speak the English languageThis job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.
