AFSI, located in Allen, Texas, has and will continue to base its strategy on technical and application support, quality assurance, product performance and value.The Fiber Optic Automation Engineer will oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of automation equipment for optical fiber assemblies. Responsibilities also include specifying and procuring any tooling, fixturing and support equipment required to facilitate set-up and operation.The candidate will generate work instructions, troubleshoot equipment, and work closely with other members of the engineering and production teams on projects as required.Essential Functions:Design and develop manufacturing tooling and fixturesWork closely with development engineering and production team during launch of new products to ensure safe and timely launchGenerate work instructions and procedures for tools, equipment and processesFacilitate and perform training on manufacturing procedures and processesFacilitate cross-functional process improvement teamsStandardizing workmanship across the organizationDevelop and implement Manufacturing Control Plans based on DFMEA and PFMEAImplement and monitor process capability for continuous improvementCoordinate failure analysis; ensure true root cause identification and appropriate corrective actions related to tooling and equipmentUtilize quality control tools to highlight failure analysis and prioritize improvement activitiesWork with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of the productsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be skilled in AutoCad, Solid Works or equivalent CAD toolsUnderstanding of GD&T inspection methods and equipmentFamiliarity with Lean Manufacturing Tools; Value Stream Mapping, 5s, Standardized Work, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Error Proofing, Set up Reduction, Continuous Flow, & Pull SystemsProactive with desire to improve organization performanceStrong understanding of best practices in customer serviceStrong interpersonal and team work skills.Demonstrated proficiency in Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis and suiting methodology.Demonstrated use of structured problem-solving methods (i.e. 5Y, 8D, Fishbone)Experience in aerospace or automotive.Excellent PC skills, written and verbal communication skills.Must work well in a team environment and commit to continuous improvementAbility to travel - domestic and internationalPosition requires candidates to be U.S. person as defined in ITAR, 22CFR 120.15 (U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien Status)
