RECREATION AIDE - Aquatics and Fitness Cent (30 hours per week with benefits)
Description PURPOSE: Under the general supervision of the Recreation Center Director and Recreation Leader, the Recreation Aide assists in providing programs for patrons of the center. Assist with recreation games and activities for all ages; Leads recreation activities and exercise; Assists with after-school programs; Sets up and arranges furniture and equipment; Adheres to and enforces department regulations; Settles disputes and problems between participants; Monitors pending problems and keeps them under control; Maintains a safe environment at all times; Makes requested property reservation; Performs general custodial duties; Ensures that the money is safe at all times; Ensures safety and security of patrons in the facility; Assist with various PARD programs at community centers and City events. Requirements REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of recreational games and activities; Knowledge of office procedures; Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or similar computer software; Knowledge of programs and handcrafts; Skills to communicate with the general public; Writing skills to produce memos and other correspondence; Mathematical skills to balance books; Ability to read and comprehend; Ability to be flexible and dependable; ability to be patient with subordinates and patrons; ability to identify safety hazards; Ability to comprehend directions; ability to communicate with others; ability to move 50 lbs. or less; Willing to work nonstandard hours and overtime as required. Possess and maintain a valid Alabama Driver's license; High School Diploma and Two (2) years' experience in recreation or related field.
