This role involves compounding, preparing, mixing, manufacturing, and dispensing medicines using a high level of technical and organizational skills. It requires the use of critical thinking abilities. The pharmacist oversees the proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. Maintaining standards set by the department and translating policies and procedures into daily operations and clinical activities is essential. Supervision and training of assigned technical personnel is a key responsibility. Assuming responsibility for technical support activities within the pharmacy department is expected. Essential functions include processing, entering, verifying, and sending medication orders in a timely manner that complies with department and regulatory guidelines. The pharmacist ensures that medication therapy is efficacious, safe, convenient, and cost-effective. Establishing the best therapeutic outcomes is crucial. Assuring that medication prescribing is optimal with respect to indications, dosage, route, frequency, history of allergy, and avoiding duplications or interactions with other drugs is required. Daily reports on medication utilization are conducted to identify and analyze areas requiring improvement. Quality assurance procedures in related work areas are performed. Participation in all pharmacy-related tasks and programs is necessary. Expediting necessary changes to meet regulatory and licensing standards and laws is a critical duty. Involvement in cost-saving initiatives within the department is encouraged. Compliance with the drug formulary and appropriate documentation is mandatory. Collaborating with relevant leadership to purchase, contract, and procure medications and supplies ensures adherence to the highest medication safety standards. Recommendations on process improvement or development of new pharmacy services may be required. Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards is essential. Additional job-related duties may be assigned as needed. Safety and wellbeing are paramount. Compliance with vaccination requirements is expected.
