Director, Major Gifts & DevelopmentLocation: Emmaus, Pennsylvania, United StatesWork setting: On-site role within the healthcare and nonprofit fundraising sector (hospital advancement, philanthropy, and donor relations environment)A leading healthcare organisation is seeking a Director, Major Gifts & Development to lead philanthropic fundraising efforts, manage high-value donor relationships, and drive major gift revenue across clinical service lines.Role purposeLead major gifts strategy and donor engagement efforts within a healthcare advancement function, managing a portfolio of high-net-worth donors and supporting fundraising campaigns that advance organisational priorities and patient care initiatives.Key responsibilitiesMajor gifts fundraisingManage a portfolio of approximately 100–150 major donorsCultivate, solicit, and steward high-value philanthropic gifts ($25,000+)Develop and execute donor engagement and stewardship strategiesBuild long-term relationships with donors, patients, and community stakeholdersCampaign & development strategySupport major gift campaigns and fundraising prioritiesCollaborate with clinical leadership to align fundraising efforts with service linesIdentify new funding opportunities and develop donor pipelinesStakeholder engagementPartner with physicians, hospital leadership, and advancement teamsWork closely with stewardship and advancement services functionsEngage community members and organisational partners to support philanthropic goalsData & systems managementMaintain donor and prospect data using fundraising CRM systemsTrack engagement, pipeline development, and fundraising performanceUse analytics to identify and prioritise donor opportunitiesRequirementsBachelor’s degree required5+ years of fundraising experience within a healthcare or nonprofit environmentExperience managing major gift portfolios and donor relationshipsStrong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skillsAbility to operate effectively in large, complex organisational environmentsProficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge or similar) and Microsoft OfficePreferred experienceMaster’s degreeExperience in hospital or healthcare philanthropyAdvanced fundraising strategy or campaign leadership experienceWork environmentA mission-driven healthcare philanthropy and nonprofit fundraising environment, focused on major gifts, donor relations, hospital advancement, and strategic fundraising within a large clinical healthcare network.
