System Analyst I - Application and System Support

The City of Aurora is accepting applications for the position of System Analyst I in the Information Technology Department.The System Analyst is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all City systems and applications supported by the Information Technology Department.Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Install, move and maintain hardware; Install and configure software; Manage and configure applications; Respond to application-related incidents, service requests, and change tasks in the ticketing system; Perform first-line technical troubleshooting (logs, SQL queries, configuration checks, connectivity, API call tracing); Document steps, workarounds, and outcomes and create or update knowledge base articles and runbooks; Monitor dashboards and alerts to proactively identify performance and availability issues; Execute routine operational tasks (patching, configuration updates, environment checks, error queue clean-up, and scheduled jobs); Support vulnerability remediation and secure configuration practices in applications; Train end-users or frontline support on new features, common troubleshooting steps, and best practices; Identify patterns and propose fixes, automation, or documentation improvements to reduce repeat incidents; Integrate systems from multiple City departments and/or divisions; Other related duties as assigned.This position requires an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or related field. This position also requires at least one (1) year of experience in a related field, preferably in a municipality. Must also possess a valid driver's license.Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check.This is a full-time, union represented position. Candidates must be willing to participate in on-call/after-hours rotation and support releases or maintenance windows.
