Software Security Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Software Security Engineer for one of our clients in Dearborn, Michigan.Rate Range: $45.00/hour to $55.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.DescriptionWe are seeking a Software Security Engineer to join our cybersecurity team. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, cybersecurity, and business operations, partnering closely with development teams to help build secure applications while enabling business objectives.As a member of the team, you will work across the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), providing guidance on application security, vulnerability management, risk assessment, and secure development practices. You will collaborate with software engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to identify risks, recommend practical solutions, and help teams make informed security decisions.The ideal candidate will have a mix of software engineering and some type of security-related experience.We are open to remote candidates for this opportunity.Please note, we cannot work on C2C basis. Requirements6+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Application Security, or a related field.Ability to read and understand application code and communicate effectively with software engineering teams.Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, vulnerabilities, and risk management.Experience supporting or working within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).Knowledge of application security concepts, including secure coding practices, vulnerability assessment, and threat modeling.Experience partnering with technical and business stakeholders to identify and mitigate risk.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make risk-based decisions.Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize work, and drive initiatives to completion.Experience working in cloud-based environments.Preferred QualificationsExperience in Application Security, Software Assurance, Product Security, or DevSecOps environments.Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and modern application architectures.Familiarity with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts and controls.Experience securing APIs and web-based applications.Exposure to compliance, governance, or regulatory security requirements.Experience supporting Java, Spring, React, JavaScript, or similar technology stacks.Knowledge of vulnerability management tools and secure code review practices.Understanding of compensating controls, risk acceptance processes, and practical security decision-making.Experience working in fast-paced, evolving environments where processes and programs are still being developed.EducationBachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.Industry certifications such as CISSP, CSSLP, GSEC, Security+, AWS Security Specialty, or similar certifications are a plus.If you are interested in this role, then please click APPLY NOW.
