Lead Person - Harvest

Type of Position: Full Time Schedule: 1st Shift Department: Operations Summary: The Production Lead is responsible for providing leadership and line supervision of the team, coordinating their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring production targets. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety and quality are followed and complied with uniformly to reduce product and process variability. Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities: Assists Production Supervisor with daily activities of assigned shift, ensuring product adheres to quality standards Conducts line meetings monthly or as circumstances dictate to address department issues or concerns Help Conduct pre-operational inspection of the area, set up production equipment, and submit maintenance work orders as needed. Direct training for associates in their assigned area(s). Conducts walkthroughs throughout the shift to verify safety, housekeeping, and quality compliance. Assists production department critical roles in preparing production lines for scheduled changeovers. Respond when an issue is identified, lead the root cause and corrective action investigation as needed, and escalate as required. Adheres to Quality work practices, follows GMPs, maintains sanitary conditions, and ensures product quality. Assists in the training & development of the team and individual goals, objectives, operational standards, and expectations for Safety, Quality, and Productivity. Builds collaborative partnerships within departmental lines to achieve departmental and team results. Proactively work to anticipate problems before they impact production. Directs daily work for the work team. Monitor team members to ensure compliance with manufacturing documents. Assists with changes to Standard Work Instructions. Assists in the training & development of the team and individual goals, objectives, operational standards, and expectations for Safety, Quality, and Productivity. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Lifting/Pulling/Pushing – 10 lbs.-200 lbs. production. Continuous overhead, above shoulders reaching and pulling, walk upstairs, bending, twisting, squatting. Neutral Wrist – Continuous repetitive hand motions: gripping, pinching, and grasping. Reaching – Continuous reaching for product on a moving conveyor belt with hooks. Standing – Constant standing on concrete or elevated platforms for 8 to 10 hours per day, up to 6 days a week may require overtime. Education requirement: High School Diploma required; some college preferred Highly Desired Skills: Prior finance or procurement experience in the beef industry Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is required to sit; use hands to finger; handle or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak; hear taste and smell. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Be able to speak on the phone, make field visits to industrial areas when necessary. Work Environment: The work environment is a combination of corporate and manufacturing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and/or humid conditions. In addition, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. As a result, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold temperatures, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Normal Work Schedule: The regular operating hours are from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Some days of 6:30 AM- 3:30 PM will be required as needed. There are required Saturdays on a rotational basis.
