Payroll Accountant - Wage

Job Description The Payroll Office is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payment to all 17,000 University employees. This department handles labor redistributions, payroll exception reports, payroll deduction entries, departmental audits, unemployment processing, and payroll records management while providing excellent customer service. Core Responsibilities: Labor Redistributions: Process labor redistributions in accordance with university procedures Regulatory Interpretation: Interpret state, federal, and immigration regulations related to employee compensation and benefits Reconciliation Assistance: Support various reconciliation processes to verify accuracy and ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations. Exception Reports: Review payroll exception reports and pursue resolutions as needed. Qualifications: Confidentiality: Maintain absolute objectivity and confidentiality with all employees and payroll-related data. Organizational Skills: Independently plan, organize, and prioritize workload to meet strict deadlines with multiple competing priorities. Required Qualifications Bookkeeping or Accounting Experience: Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting with a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and practices, including account reconciliations. Software Proficiency: Experience using automated accounting systems and personal computers, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications Degree in accounting or business-related field or significant relevant payroll experience Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and requirements Pay Band 4-Wage Appointment Type Regular Salary Information Commensurate with experience with a range of $16-$18/hr Review Date September 12, 2024 Additional Information The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
