Warren County Zoning Administrator The Warren County Zoning Department is accepting applications for a full-time position for a Zoning Administrator. The Zoning Administrator will assist the Zoning Director to provide the necessary leadership, skills, and abilities to ensure the implementation, promotion, facilitation, planning, zoning and development activities for the county. Applicants must have good communication and public relation skills. Successful Applicants will be self-motivated and have a willingness to learn. Starting at $58,000.00 per year, based on experience. Essential Functions · Assist the Zoning Director with reviewing applications, interviewing, hiring, and training employees. · Under the supervision of Zoning Director, review applications for variances, special use permits, subdivisions, and zoning changes; prepares recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustment, Historic Preservation Commission, and the Board of Supervisors consistent with the Warren County Master Plan for future Land Use, Growth and Development, Warren County Zoning Ordinance, and the Code of Iowa. · Assist with preparation of packets and public notices regarding applications for Zoning Commission, Board of Supervisors, Board of Adjustment and Historic Preservations Commission and attend required meetings. · Assist the Zoning Director in advising and making recommendations on zoning issues, projects, and proposals to the Board of Supervisors. · Assist the Zoning Director with coordination of planning and zoning issues with the other County offices. · Assist the Zoning Director to address complaints and resolve zoning issues within the County. · Meets with property owners to resolve conflicts. · Under the supervision of the Zoning Director, initiates enforcement procedures when code violations occur; contact owners and informs the County Attorney. · Serves as acting Floodplain Administrator · Provide information to the public regarding legal descriptions, floodplains, enforcement, zoning census, and other general information. · While serving as Floodplain Administrator for Warren County, work with the Iowa Department of Resources and FEMA to update Warren County Chapter 45, Floodplain Management Ordinance. · Review and issue sign permits in the unincorporated county. · All other duties as assigned. Education, Skills, and Experience · An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university, or five years of commensurate experience in zoning or other government experience. Any combination of education, training and experience may be considered for qualification purposes. · Training in comprehensive Planning and Land use and CoZo. · Ability to perform mathematical calculations, analyze data, and prepare reports. · Ability to work in Word, Excel, and ArcGIS. · Ability to assist with the development and management of the Zoning office budget. · Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and exercise independent judgment. · Must have strong customer orientation skills. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary for working with other employees/departments/offices within Warren County. · Must be a positive representative of the Zoning Office and Warren County. · Be a strong team player and demonstrate a commitment to the ideas and values of Warren County.
