The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of flag football fundamentals, positive leadership, and the ability to foster a fun, inclusive, and development-focused team culture aligned with the mission of Girard College.Position Type:Stipend position (no benefits)Reports To:Athletic DirectorKey Responsibilities:Lead and manage all aspects of the middle school coed flag football programTeach age-appropriate fundamentals, rules, and strategies of flag footballDevelop in-season training plans focused on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanshipFoster academic achievement, character development, and respect among student-athletesOrganize and oversee tryouts, practices, and all scheduled games (home and away)Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all participantsEnsure compliance with all school policies and league regulationsCommunicate effectively with players, parents/guardians, and school stakeholdersManage team equipment, uniforms, and inventorySubmit and manage program needs in coordination with the Athletic DirectorSupport athlete health and safety by following care plans and maintaining First Aid/CPR/AED certificationsCoordinate team transportation and maintain vehicle cleanliness and fuel levels as neededAttend Athletic Department meetings when scheduled by the Athletic DirectorCommunity Engagement & Program Support:Serve as a positive representative and ambassador of Girard College and its athletic programsSupport the Athletic Department's mission by encouraging participation and sportsmanshipBuild relationships with middle school staff and youth sports organizations as appropriateRequired Skills:Knowledge of flag football rules, fundamentals, and player developmentAbility to motivate, teach, and mentor middle school student-athletesClear, age-appropriate communication with players, parents/guardians, and staffDemonstrated leadership, professionalism, and positive role modelingAbility to lift at least 50 pounds and work in various weather conditionsUnderstanding of how to build a development-focused, values-driven middle school programTime Commitment:In-Season:Practices: Weekdays, 1-2 hours/dayMandatory attendance at all scheduled gamesSeason Length: Approximately 6-8 weeksWeekend availability may be requiredOff-Season:Participation in program planning and development as approved by the Athletic DirectorQualificationsQualifications:Bachelor's degree requiredMinimum of three (3) years of coaching experience at the youth, middle school, high school, collegiate, or professional level (flag football or tackle football)Must have completed PIAA coaching education requirements at time of hireStrong interpersonal and communication skillsCommitment to working collaboratively with student-athletes, administration, faculty, and staffMust pass all required background checks and hold a valid driver's license with a safe driving recordRequired Certifications (Prior to Start Date):FBI Fingerprint ClearancePennsylvania Child Abuse History ClearancePennsylvania Criminal Background CheckValid Driver's License (safe driving record)First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
