Human Resources Specialist
Job Title: HR SpecialistReports To: HR DirectorFLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)Pay Range: $20 - $25/hourPosition SummaryWe are seeking a bilingual HR Specialist to support day-to-day Human Resources operations across multiple restaurant locations. This role is primarily focused on administrative coordination, employee support, and HR process execution in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.The HR Specialist serves as a key point of contact for employees and managers. This role plays a critical part in ensuring HR processes are executed accurately, consistently, and in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.Key ResponsibilitiesHR Administration & ComplianceMaintain accurate, complete, and confidential employee records in HR systems and personnel files.Support day-to-day HR operations including onboarding, offboarding, payroll support, and benefits administration.Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws by tracking documentation, deadlines, and required notices.Prepare and organize HR documentation including performance records, disciplinary documentation, and employment changes.Support internal audits and ensure consistency in HR practices across locations.Recruiting, Hiring & OnboardingCoordinate job postings, applicant tracking, and candidate communications.Schedule interviews and support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.Assist with onboarding, including new hire paperwork, system setup, and orientation coordination.Ensure new hires receive clear, accurate information regarding policies, pay, and expectations.Employee Support & CommunicationServe as a professional and approachable point of contact for employees and managers.Respond to routine HR questions and requests; escalate more complex issues to the HR Director.Provide bilingual (English/Spanish) support, including translation of HR materials and interpretation during meetings as needed.Help ensure HR policies and communications are clearly understood across all locations.Training & Documentation SupportCoordinate training schedules, materials, and tracking as needed.Maintain records of required training, certifications, and compliance-related documentation.Assist with performance review tracking and documentation processes.Support the preparation and distribution of HR communications and training materials.Employee Experience & Operational SupportAssist with employee engagement initiatives, communications, and retention efforts.Support workplace safety documentation, workers’ compensation tracking, and incident reporting.Conduct exit interviews and compile feedback as requested.Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including meeting coordination, meeting recaps, and project support.Required Skills & Qualifications1 - 3 years of experience in an HR or administrative roleBilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal)Strong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalismProficiency in Microsoft Office or Google WorkspacePreferred Qualifications Experience in hospitality, retail, or multi-location environmentsExperience with HRIS, payroll systems, or scheduling platformsPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, and move between restaurant locations for extended periodsAbility to work on a computer for prolonged periods, including typing and data entryOccasional lifting of up to 25-30 pounds (files, supplies, materials)Ability to travel between locations as neededWork EnvironmentThis role operates in a hybrid environment, with time split between on-site restaurant support and remote work. Regular on-site presence is expected to ensure accessibility to employees and operational teams.
